Although my career started when I was 14, one of the earliest bands I was in was called The North Circular Accidental Band and we had the somewhat dubious pleasure of sharing a stage with what became the Sex Pistols. We faded into oblivion, and they became millionaires. But it is my claim to fame. The New Musical Express on 27 December 1975 quoted Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, Slack Alice, North Circular Accidental Band and another band that played during the interval, yes, that was the Sex Pistols.
This and many other stories are in my memoirs, “You Call That a Career”. Just a load of stories on having spent my whole life in the festival and live music business, and as one university lecturer at Derby said, “You call that a career”? Well yes, I suppose I do!
