Mrs Casey Records

Welcome to Mrs Casey Records, the CD & DVD production arm of Mrs Casey Music.   We are a small label working mainly in the Folk, Roots & Acoustic music sector and have a long and successful history of working with new and exciting young talent as well as releasing tutorial DVDs that encourage people to pick up an instrument and learn to play.  These include our work on the first studio albums of Eliza Carthy & Nancy Kerr and our groundbreaking series of compilation albums "Evolving Tradition".   We have worked with the legendary John Kirkpatrick on the three part (all on one DVD) "How to Play the English Melodeon" and more recently with ex-Battlefield Band guitar whiz Alistair Russell on his Celtic Session Guitar DVD.  Most recently we have released Ruth Notman's debut CD "Threads" to huge critical acclaim.

Mrs Casey Records is all about finding and nurturing new talent and introducing people to great music.

Alistair Russell
Celtic Session Guitar Accompaniment

Budding and even some more experienced guitarists have often hung around the edges of a club, bar or festival session wishing they knew the secrets and styles to keep up with the fiddles and melodeons.  Well now they can thanks to this DVD by Alistair Russell (ex-Battlefield Band).  This tutorial DVD will give players the confidence to join a session at home or at a festival, or jam with your local Celtic pub band.  Using only eight chords, students will be taken through five jigs and five reels in several keys, with slowed-down explanations of rhythmic patterns, all in the standard tuning, familiar to all beginners.

"This is a clear, friendly and helpful introduction to the art of accompanying (Celtic) tunes on the guitar….straightforward, usable information…charming presentation." Martin Simpson

This DVD can be purchased for just £20 from The Folk Store
