Denis and Sheila Manners Memorial Concert
Saturday June 27 2009    7.30 - 10.30pm    Thame Leisure Centre, Thame, Oxon

This very special concert featuring some great names of Folk including Roy Bailey and John Kirkpatrick as well as up and coming new writer Gavin Osborn will celebrate the lives of Denis and Sheila Manners and raise funds for two organisations that they supported, Amnesty International and The Woodcraft Folk.

Denis and Sheila were lifelong campaigners for the Peace and Folk movements, devoting much of their time to the cause through organisations such as Ex-Services CND, Thame Peace Group, The Levellers Day, The Labour Party, Oxfam, EFDSS, The Woodcraft Folk to name but a few.  They were also founders of Towersey Village Festival and Towersey Morris Men as well as running the Towersey Folk Club for many years and giving hospitality to anyone that crossed their path throughout their lives.  As somebody said in one of the many cards that followed Denis's passing in January

"They don't make many like Denis and Sheila"

With "One of the finest voices in the folk world" Guardian, Roy Bailey and "Master of the Buttons" John Kirkpatrick already confirmed to play this promises to be a special night of music, song and dance with Morris displays and more guests to be announced.

What’s New for Mrs Casey Music?

Since we finished the 2008 Towersey Village Festival and galloped on to the FolkArts England Folk Industry Conference in Nottingham in November, our feet have hardly touched the ground but we have been thinking about the opportunity to release new records on the Mrs Casey Records label.
Threads - By Ruth Notman
We are  pleased to announce that Ruth Notman is currently in rehearsal for her second album, aimed at release in the summer.

If you haven’t heard Ruth’s début album Threads you can buy it here or have a listen here…

By the way, we are also in talks with a singer songwriter from the 1980’s for a re-release on CD of one of his best albums.  More on all of these as they happen.

 Ruth's new pages

Check out the new pages we have created so that you can keep up to speed with all things Ruth Notman.  You can see the latest gig lists and get up to date news on the new album.  There are links and downloads a plenty......

so come on in and have a look...

Think of Summer Days at Magical Towersey

The 45th Towersey Village Festival will see thousands of
people gathering in this Oxfordshire village for a 5-day celebration, a holiday with a difference or, for some, an annual pilgrimage to meet friends, catch up on the year and enjoy what has become know as the landmark music event in ‘the little village with BIG ideas’.

What makes Towersey special?

Is it the huge line-up of top artists?  Maybe it's the best camping experience on the Festival scene or the huge range of exotic food, drink and shopping?  Parhaps it's the very best value for your pound on a holiday where you become part of a unigue Festival community... or maybe it's a bit of everything.

See what else makes Towersey so special…
